Abbeyfield
Loughborough

Abbeyfield Loughborough has been providing care and support to the elderly of Charnwood since 1963. We are a not-for-profit organisation and a registered charity and, as such, we reinvest in our home, staff, and volunteers to make sure our residents are comfortable, safe, and happy.

We are registered to provide dementia care and our aim is to provide a safe, dignified, and homely environment which promotes well-being in our residents. We follow the principles of person-centred care, seeing each resident as an individual with unique qualities, interests, preferences, and needs rather than simply focussing on their illness or abilities that they may have lost.

Our home is situated in the heart of Loughborough and comprises of two houses on the same site: Westfield House with 31 beds and the newly opened Ingleside House providing a further 33 beds.

Westfield House

We have 31 single rooms:

19 with wash basin facilities and 12 with en-suite wash hand basin and WC.

Ingleside House

We have 33 single rooms:

all rooms have en-suite wet rooms.

Looking after someone with dementia can be challenging. You may require respite care or there may come a time when you are no longer able to care for your loved one at home. At this point, it is in everyone’s best interests  that residential care is considered.

We appreciate that the decision can be very emotional, as you may feel you’re letting the person with dementia down. However, if you’re struggling to meet their needs, this may be the best decision for both the person you care for and for you.

To help you with the decision, it is important to obtain an assessment of the person’s care needs. Where possible, the assessment should be completed before making enquiries about care home places, as this might influence which care home you choose.

Professional Quality Care

Quality Care Services for the Elderly

We believe in offering quality care to all our residents. Any residential accommodation for people in older age must meet certain quality standards. We are monitored and regulated by external regulatory bodies, including Care Quality Commission, Leicestershire County Council and Charnwood Borough Council. In addition, the central Abbeyfield organisation routinely visits to undertake its own inspection.

At Abbeyfield Loughborough we also conduct our own assessments to ensure that both our ethos and professional standards are met. A team of experienced Board members monitor and evaluate our staff, facilities and services to ensure that every individual’s wellbeing and needs are being met within excellent environments.

Testimonials

“My parents seem to be settling into Westfield House very well – Tess has excellent colleagues and runs a good home – to the point where my father has brought up the observation that his care needs are too great to return home… My parents are looking cared for and comfortable”

S. Down

Son of resident

“We are all very grateful to the staff who cared for my dad so thoughtfully and professionally. Michael, Becky and others got to know him well in the few months he was with you and that is a great comfort to us. Please let all the staff know how grateful we are for their loving care. He had really started to view Abbeyfield as his 2nd home.”

T. Betteridge

Daughter of resident

“I just wanted to say thank you to you all for your help and care whilst looking after my dad. Abbeyfield is a fantastic care home, the best we could have wished for dad following his accident. His almost 3 years with you were special ones and I was confident he was always being well looked after, loved and cared for by you all.”

H. May

Relative of resident

“I write on behalf of the family as a whole, to express our sincere thanks to you and the staff at Westfield for looking after Mum in the last years of her life. Your commitment to best practice is evident in all that you do at Westfield, and as a result Mum was looked after in a happy, clean and caring environment where every effort was made to meet her needs, physical and emotional.”
