Estates Manager

Job Description

Key Objectives:

  • To provide effective and efficient management of our properties and facilities, within an agreed budget
  • To oversee the in-house Maintenance Team and work and communicate closely with the Senior Management Team to ensure the Society continues to develop as a highly regarded, environmentally safe and financially viable organisation
  • To ensure compliance with H & S regulations and to be responsible for the co-ordination and implementation of Health & Safety legislation and policies throughout the Society, in consultation with the Society’s Health & Safety Consultants, and the General Manager
  • To work with the General Manager and Registered Manager to develop and maintain an appropriate Business Continuity and Emergency Response Plan

Essential Requirements:

  1. Experience at managerial or supervisory level
  2. A working knowledge of electrical, joinery, plumbing and general maintenance issues
  3. A working knowledge of H & S legislation
  4. To have GCSE English Language and Maths, or equivalent
  5. To have good interpersonal skills
  6. To have IT skills, including the use of Microsoft Office
  7. To be able to work under pressure and prioritise workload
  8. To work well as part of a team
  9. A willingness to undertake relevant training
  10. Ability to demonstrate an empathy and understanding of the needs of older people
  11. A flexible approach to working hours as the role will require you to be on call for emergencies
  12. Experience of delivering training
  13. A full clean driving licence

Desirable Requirements:

  1. Experience in a similar role within a health or social care setting, particularly relating to dementia services
  2. A relevant H & S qualification or equivalent.
  3. Evidence of continuing training and development.
  4. Experience of delivering Health & Safety training

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £31,000.00 /year

 

Senior Care Worker – £11.20 per hour

92.25 hours per 4 weeks on a rota system to include alternate weekends

Experience of working within a dementia care setting is preferred

though not essential,

Abbeyfield Loughborough Society are currently looking for a Relief House Manager at May Mills Supported House at 59, Forest Road, Loughborough

Abbeyfield Loughborough Society is a registered charity that provides companionship and community to help enhance the quality of life for older people. Our core values are those of caring, openness, honesty and respect, with Volunteers as well as Staff playing a vital role in ensuring these are upheld.

We actively encourage our Residents to remain as independent as possible for as long as possible. If assistance with personal care is required, then a Care package can be sourced through Social Services or a local private Care agency.

Within our Sheltered House, two main meals are cooked and served in the communal dining room. Residents are expected to cater for themselves at breakfast time, although provisions are supplied.

There are various activities and outings that are organised by our Volunteers and Staff taking into consideration the preferences of our Residents.

Hours of work: – Friday & Saturday 8.00am – 1.30 pm and 4.00pm – 6.00 pm

Key Objectives:-

  • To maximise the quality of life of every resident living in the house
  • To ensure all aspects of the house are efficiently run in the absence of the House Manager
  • To co-ordinate and supervise staff in the absence of the House Manager
  • Provide a catering service in line with the Safer Food Better Business Guidelines
  • To ensure a full and thorough handover is given to the House Manager after each absence
  • Stand in for the House Manager during periods of annual leave or sickness

Essential requirements:-

  • Ability to prepare, cook and serve good quality meals
  • Good organisational skills
  • Ability to communicate and interact well with residents and others
  • Ability to read, write, work with numbers and computers to a good standard
  • Ability to effectively supervise others
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the needs of older people
  • Ability to carry out all aspects of the role to a high standard at all times
  • Prepared to travel to other venues for training/meetings as required

Desirable requirements:-

  • Experience in supporting older people in a similar environment
  • Current, clean driving licence
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Food Hygiene Certificate

Night Care Worker

33 hours per week (3 nights) on a 4 week rota to include some weekends

As a Bank Care Worker, we require you to: –

Deliver person-centred care to the residents to ensure that their physical, social, intellectual and emotional needs are met and ensuring dignity, choice, independence and respect.

Consult with residents and the Senior team to assist in developing individual care plans for residents

Be flexible about working hours

Be approachable and supportive to staff and managers

Be able to communicate and interact well with people

Be literate and numerate

Be able to work well as part of a team

Demonstrate a willingness to undertake training to achieve NVQ Level 2 qualification or equivalent

Demonstrate an empathy and understanding of the needs of older people

 

It would be desirable that you have:

Experience in a similar role within a health or social care setting

A relevant NVQ Level 2 qualifications or equivalent

Previously worked in services for old people with dementia

Evidence of continuing training and development

 

As a Bank Kitchen Assistant, we will require you to: –

To maintain the high standards of hygiene in the kitchen and dining areas as per the cleaning schedules.

To assist in the serving of all meals in accordance with the varying needs of the Residents.

To prepare and serve teas according to the set menu, or following instructions from the Chef or Senior Care Worker on any special dietary requirements

To assist, under instruction from the Chef, in the management of stock rotation

To be responsible for ensuring all Health and Safety regulations and other Society policies and procedures are adhered to.

To attend training events and staff meetings as required.

To immediately report all accidents to the Chef or Senior Member of staff on duty.

To respect the confidential nature of personal information.

To complete any other task as directed by the Chef/ Relief Chef, Senior Care Worker or Registered/Deputy Care Home Manager.

 

As a Domestic Worker we require you to: –

To maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the Care Home

To clean and maintain the cleanliness of all public areas, including corridors, stairs and all bathrooms and toilets

To clean and maintain the cleanliness of the individual Resident’s rooms including en-suite facilities

To provide assistance in bed making as required

To operate and maintain cleanliness of all mechanical cleaning aids in accordance with the operating instructions

To ensure that all cleaning materials and equipment are correctly used and stored safely when not in use

To work in co-operation with all other staff members and Volunteers

To respect the confidential nature of personal information
